Job Title: Accounting Assistant (Insurance Company)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our finance team. In this role, you will manage collections, maintain accurate financial records, support banking operations, and ensure compliance with internal policies and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable and Collections
Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve account discrepancies in coordination with internal departments and external producers.
Collections Management: Collect receivables that remain outstanding beyond established credit terms.
Account Adjustments: Initiate and complete premium cancellations for non-paying customers.
Statement Distribution: Prepare and distribute assigned producer receivable statements promptly.
Payment Posting: Allocate receipts and credits and accurately post customer payments.
Accounting Records and Producer Payments
Ledger Maintenance: Maintain accurate accounting journals and ledgers.
Journal Uploads: Prepare cheque-journal uploads for monthly accounting.
Commission Processing: Process assigned producer commission payments.
Banking and Cash Management
Bank Reconciliations: Complete assigned bank reconciliations within required deadlines.
Payment Processing: Process cheques and wire transfers.
Petty Cash: Manage petty cash funds.
Compliance and Administrative Support
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
Operations Support: Provide administrative support for finance operations.
General Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
• Professional certification or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., ACCA Level 1 or 2,).
• Proven experience in accounts receivable, collections, or general accounting.
• Strong knowledge of local financial guidelines and compliance regulations in Trinidad and Tobago.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing relationships with internal teams and external producers.
