Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Finance Department / Managing Director’s Office/Bahamas in the Central North District ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
1. Projects
• Lead projects on time, within scope and budget.
• Coordinate plans, resources and milestones.
• Engage stakeholders and communicate progress, risks and decisions.
• Manage and escalate project risks.
2. Financial Reporting
• Oversee month-end close, reporting and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial reports, analysis and Board materials.
• Analyze performance, variances, risks and profitability.
• Coordinate external audits and IFRS financial statements.
• Deliver ad hoc reports for local and Head Office teams.
3. Management Reporting including planning & forecasting
• Support strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting.
• Set targets, explain variances and recommend actions.
• Monitor budgets, expenses and profitability opportunities.
• Assess the financial impact of business and regulatory changes.
• Provide insights on performance, profitability and strategy.
• Coordinate the resolution of audit findings.
4. Taxation
• Coordinate tax returns, provisions, reporting and audits.
• Provide tax guidance on local transactions.
• Manage material tax risks, disputes and provisions.
5. Accounting Policy
• Monitor accounting and tax developments.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and BNS IFRS requirements.
• Implement accounting changes for policies, products and systems.
• Advise on complex accounting matters.
6. Leadership
• Build trusted stakeholder partnerships.
• Champion a customer-focused culture.
• Drive automation and process improvements.
• Promote sound risk management in daily decisions.
Education / Experience / Other Information:
The incumbent should ideally possess the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a finance related discipline and/or a recognized accounting
qualification (i.e. ACCA, CGA etc.;
• PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent Agile certification strongly preferred;
• Demonstrated success in leading complex projects with significant business impact;
• Strong experience in business case development and budget ownership Proven teamwork;
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across functions;
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills;
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence);
• Ability to manage ambiguity and drive results in a dynamic environment;
• At least five years of working experience in a finance role;
• Analytical skills and desire to learn and adapt to changing requirements;
• Proficiency with excel and other data capturing systems;
• Excellent team driven approach.
