About the Role
To support our continuous operational expansion and guarantee maximum asset reliability across our heavy-duty fleet, KWL is inviting applications from seasoned, internationally experienced professionals for the position of Crane Master Technician. The Crane Master Technician serves as the principal technical authority and frontline operational lead for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostic integrity of heavy-duty port terminal equipment. The role oversees the terminal’s premier cargo-handling fleet, (Liebherr, Gottwald, Konecranes).
Responsibilities
• Coordinate and support the Preventive, Corrective and Predictive Maintenance (PM/CM/PdM) programmes for cranes, ensuring maintenance activities are scheduled and executed efficiently and with minimal equipment downtime.
• Utilize the company’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including Limble, GP/Key2Act-WennSoft, to issue, monitor and close maintenance work orders and track equipment performance.
• Monitor crane maintenance schedules, equipment status and maintenance activities to ensure operational readiness.
• Support the management of spare parts and technical inventory, including stocktaking, inventory reconciliation and ensuring availability of critical items.
• Monitor and analyse key crane maintenance and performance metrics, inventory levels and recommend corrective actions and improvements.
• Assist with sourcing technical services, spare parts and materials, including obtaining and evaluating supplier/OEM quotations, and monitoring orders, lead times and deliveries.
• Monitor and follow up with suppliers and OEMs regarding outstanding parts, technical services and recommendations to ensure timely resolution.
• Coordinate with Planning, Stores, Operations, Logistics, Finance and other Engineering/Maintenance teams to resolve operational and maintenance issues effectively.
• Assist with the management, coaching, mentoring and development of Crane Maintenance personnel, including performance appraisals and identification of training needs.
• Promote and monitor compliance with occupational safety requirements, company policies and maintenance standards within the workshop and work areas.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial), Heavy Equipment Maintenance Management, or equivalent.
• Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in Heavy-Duty Port Equipment Maintenance, preferably Cranes, Supervisory and/or Managerial role exposure.
• OEM certified training on Mobile Harbour Cranes (Liebherr LHM series, Konecranes/Gottwald) and heavy port container-handling equipment is highly preferred.
Required Skills
• Proven ability to interpret complex hydraulic schematics, electrical single-line drawings, and automated control loop diagrams.
• Sound leadership, cross-cultural communication, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
• Full physical capability to climb vertical ladders, work at extreme heights, and perform inspections in tropical maritime weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including night operations, weekends, and emergency on-call rotations.
