Role description

Hiring company: The Jamaica National Group Source: LinkedIn Group Chief People and Culture | Jamaica National Group Shape the culture. Strengthen the leadership. Build the capability for growth. Thorburn McAlister is seeking an outstanding people leader for Jamaica National Group — one of Jamaica’s most recognised brands, with a heritage approaching 150 years and a diverse portfolio spanning financial services, technology and other businesses. Reporting directly to the Group CEO, you will lead the people agenda across the Group, translating business ambition into the talent, leadership and organisational capability needed to deliver it. At the heart of this appointment is the opportunity to build “One JN”: a shared culture and consistent employee experience that unite geographically dispersed businesses around a common purpose — enriching lives and building better communities. Your priorities will include: • Aligning people strategy, workforce planning and organisational design with business growth. • Strengthening leadership capability, succession planning and talent development. • Building engagement, accountability and a culture where colleagues feel valued and able to contribute. • Modernising HR operations through better systems, data and insight. • Leading reward strategy, employee relations and collective bargaining. We are looking for a commercially astute, credible and influential people executive who combines strategic judgement with the ability to deliver complex change. You will bring a strong record of workforce transformation at scale, ideally within banking, insurance or another complex regulated financial-services business. Experience in a unionised environment, collective bargaining and dispute resolution is essential, alongside extensive knowledge of Jamaican labour law and industrial relations. A relevant master’s degree or MBA and professional HR certification from SHRM or CIPD are required. This is a substantial leadership opportunity for someone who can advise and challenge at the highest level, build trust across diverse businesses and turn a people-first ambition into measurable business results.
