About the Role
An established upper-midscale hotel is seeking an experienced, strategic, and people-focused Director of Human Resources to lead the property's Human Resources function and serve as a key member of the hotel's leadership team.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an accomplished HR professional who can balance strategic people leadership with the day-to-day realities of hotel operations. The Director of Human Resources will partner closely with the General Manager and department leaders to build a strong workforce, strengthen leadership capability, foster accountability, and create a healthy, high-performing workplace culture.

The successful candidate will bring strong business judgment, credibility, emotional intelligence, and the confidence to advise and appropriately challenge leaders while remaining accessible and trusted by employees.
***This role is currently open to locals only.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
• Serve as the principal HR advisor to the General Manager and hotel leadership team on workforce, culture, organizational effectiveness, and employee matters.
• Develop and execute HR priorities that align with the hotel's operational objectives, service standards, and business goals.
• Provide leadership with workforce insights, HR metrics, trends, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
• Partner with department leaders to anticipate staffing requirements and develop appropriate workforce plans.
• Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, respect, professionalism, and high performance throughout the property.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
• Lead recruitment and selection activities across hotel departments, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and integration of new employees.
• Develop effective strategies to attract and retain qualified talent in a competitive hospitality environment.
• Partner with department leaders to assess staffing levels, turnover trends, vacancies, and future workforce requirements.
• Strengthen onboarding practices to ensure new employees understand the hotel's expectations, culture, service standards, and performance requirements.
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
• Provide sound, timely, and practical guidance to managers on employee relations, performance, conduct, policy interpretation, and leadership matters.
• Manage complex employee relations issues, including grievances, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
• Coach managers to address employee issues consistently, fairly, and promptly while strengthening their own people-management capabilities.
• Maintain a visible, approachable, and credible HR presence throughout the property.
• Promote open communication and positive employee-management relationships.
Performance, Accountability & Leadership Development
• Lead the hotel's performance management process and ensure managers establish clear expectations and address performance gaps effectively.
• Strengthen leadership accountability through coaching, follow-up, and consistent application of performance standards.
• Identify leadership and employee development needs and coordinate relevant training and development initiatives.
• Support managers in developing stronger coaching, communication, delegation, decision-making, and team-leadership capabilities.
• Partner with leadership to identify high-potential employees and develop succession and career-development plans for critical positions.
Culture, Engagement & Retention
• Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, recognition, retention, and overall employee experience.
• Help create a healthy employee environment where employees feel respected, supported, accountable, and connected to the hotel's goals.
• Monitor employee sentiment and workplace trends, identifying opportunities to improve morale, teamwork, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
• Champion behaviors that reinforce the hotel's values and contribute to excellent guest service.
HR Governance, Compliance & Administration
• Ensure HR policies, practices, and employment decisions are consistently administered and aligned with applicable Bahamian employment and labour requirements.
• Develop, review, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
• Oversee employee benefits administration, attendance, leave management, and related HR processes.
• Ensure disciplinary actions, investigations, performance documentation, and other employee matters are appropriately documented.
• Prepare HR reports and workforce analytics for the General Manager and leadership team.
• Ensure the HR function operates with strong organization, attention to detail, confidentiality, responsiveness, and follow-through.
Qualifications

• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including HR leadership or management responsibility.
• Previous experience as a Director of Human Resources, HR Manager, Senior HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or comparable leadership role.
• Hospitality, hotel, resort, or service-industry HR experience is highly desirable.

The Director should demonstrate the confidence to address difficult issues, the judgment to balance employee and business needs, and the interpersonal skill to build trust across the organization.
What Success Looks Like

The Director of Human Resources will help create a healthy employee environment and strong workplace culture where expectations are clear, leaders are accountable, employees feel valued and respected, and teams work collaboratively toward shared goals.
