Hiring company: thehivecareers.co Source: Careers-Page.com Job Summary The Chief Innovation Officer (CInO) is responsible for establishing and executing the organization's enterprise innovation agenda, identifying new growth opportunities, developing innovative products and business models, and applying emerging technologies to create competitive advantage. Within Insurance & Investments, the CInO leads innovation across insurance products, investment services, distribution, customer experience, underwriting, claims, wealth management, operations, and technology. The role evaluates and scales opportunities involving AI, GenAI, automation, FinTech, InsurTech, data, digital platforms, embedded finance/insurance, and emerging technologies. The CInO typically owns the journey from strategic opportunity ideation experimentation PoC/MVP pilot commercialization and scale. Key Responsibilities 1. Enterprise Innovation Strategy Develop and execute the organization's enterprise innovation strategy. Establish a multi-year innovation roadmap aligned with corporate strategy. Identify emerging market, customer, technology, and competitive trends. Create an innovation portfolio covering short-, medium-, and long-term opportunities. Establish innovation governance, funding models, priorities, and decision frameworks. Define innovation KPIs and measure business impact and ROI. Advise the CEO and Board on emerging opportunities and threats. 2. New Products & Business Models Identify opportunities for new insurance and investment products. Develop innovative customer propositions and distribution models. Explore new revenue streams and adjacent markets. Lead business-model experimentation and commercialization. Challenge traditional operating and distribution models. Develop partnerships and ecosystems that create new sources of value. 3. Insurance Innovation Drive innovation across: AI-enabled underwriting Predictive risk assessment Automated claims Digital claims experiences Fraud detection Usage-based insurance Telematics Embedded insurance Digital distribution Personalized insurance products InsurTech partnerships Automated customer service IoT-enabled risk management 4. Investment & Wealth Innovation Lead innovation across: Digital investment platforms AI-assisted investment processes Digital wealth management Robo-advisory Personalized investment experiences Portfolio analytics Investor engagement Digital onboarding/KYC Alternative investment products FinTech partnerships Automated investment reporting New investment distribution channels 5. Emerging Technology Strategy Evaluate and prioritize business applications of: Artificial Intelligence Generative AI Machine Learning Advanced Analytics Robotic Process Automation Blockchain / Distributed Ledger Technology Cloud Computing APIs IoT Digital Identity Open Banking / Open Finance Low-code / No-code Intelligent automation Emerging FinTech and InsurTech platforms The CInO should focus not simply on adopting technology, but on measurable business outcomes and commercial value. 6. Innovation Labs & Experimentation Establish innovation labs, accelerators, or venture programs. Develop structured ideation and experimentation frameworks. Lead design-thinking and innovation workshops. Sponsor PoCs, MVPs, pilots, and rapid experimentation. Establish criteria for scaling successful initiatives. Allocate innovation funding across competing opportunities. Kill or redesign initiatives that fail to demonstrate sufficient value. 7. FinTech, InsurTech & External Ecosystem Build relationships with FinTech and InsurTech companies. Establish partnerships with startups, universities, research organizations, and technology providers. Evaluate emerging startups and strategic technologies. Develop corporate venture, accelerator, or strategic investment opportunities where appropriate. Lead innovation challenges, hackathons, and ecosystem programs. Represent the organization at industry innovation forums. 8. Digital & Technology Collaboration Partner with the CIO, CTO, CDO, and Chief Digital Officer to scale successful innovations. Ensure innovation initiatives align with enterprise technology architecture. Identify opportunities for digital transformation and automation. Support modernization of legacy products and processes. Ensure successful PoCs transition into production environments. Establish clear ownership between innovation, product, digital, and technology teams. 9. Customer-Centric Innovation Identify unmet customer and investor needs. Use customer research, behavioral data, and market intelligence to identify opportunities. Lead customer journey and experience innovation. Develop personalized products and services. Improve customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and lifetime value. Ensure innovation delivers measurable improvements in customer experience. 10. Governance, Risk & Responsible Innovation Establish appropriate governance for emerging technologies. Work with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Information Security, and Data Privacy functions. Assess regulatory and operational risks associated with innovation. Establish responsible AI and technology-use principles. Ensure innovation complies with financial-services regulations. Address cybersecurity, privacy, model risk, third-party risk, and operational resilience. 11. Leadership & Investment Management Build and lead enterprise innovation teams. Manage innovation budgets and investment portfolios. Establish cross-functional innovation squads. Develop innovation capabilities across the organization. Create an innovation culture and encourage experimentation. Report innovation portfolio performance to the CEO and Board. Track revenue growth, cost savings, customer impact, adoption, and ROI. Ideal Candidate Profile 15–20+ years of experience across innovation, strategy, digital, technology, product, consulting, or financial services. 8+ years of senior leadership experience. Proven experience developing and executing an enterprise innovation strategy. Demonstrated ability to take concepts from ideation PoC MVP pilot commercialization. Strong understanding of financial-services business models. Experience in insurance, investment management, asset management, wealth management, banking, FinTech, or InsurTech. Strong knowledge of emerging technologies and their commercial applications. Experience with AI/GenAI, automation, analytics, digital platforms, or emerging technology. Strong commercial and strategic orientation. Experience managing innovation portfolios, budgets, partnerships, and external ecosystems. Strong Board and C-suite communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, or related field; MBA/master's preferred.
