Role description

Hiring company: Durlston Partners Source: LinkedIn Bahamas We are working with a leading proprietary trading firm that is looking to hire a talented C++ Engineer to join its technology team. The firm operates highly sophisticated, low-latency trading systems across global financial markets, with technology playing a critical role in its trading strategies and infrastructure. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working close to the metal and solving complex performance and scalability problems in a highly technical environment. The Role You will work closely with quantitative researchers, traders and other engineers to design, develop and optimise high-performance trading systems. Your work could include: • Developing and optimising high-performance C++ systems used in live trading. • Building low-latency components across market data, trading, execution and connectivity. • Designing systems where performance, determinism and reliability are critical. • Profiling and optimising code across CPU, memory, networking and I/O. • Working with Linux and understanding how systems behave at an operating-system level. • Developing and improving exchange connectivity and market data infrastructure. • Designing robust systems capable of processing large volumes of real-time market data. • Collaborating closely with quantitative researchers and traders to turn ideas into production systems. • Investigating complex performance and production issues and implementing long-term solutions. What We're Looking For • Strong professional experience developing C++ in a performance-critical environment. • Strong understanding of modern C++, including C++17/20 and modern software design principles. • Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms and systems programming. • Strong Linux experience. • Experience working with multithreading, concurrency and parallelism. • A genuine interest in performance optimisation and low-level systems. • Understanding of networking and distributed systems. • Experience profiling and debugging complex production systems. • Strong engineering fundamentals and an ability to reason from first principles. Highly Desirable Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous: • Low-latency trading systems • Market data • Exchange connectivity • FIX or binary exchange protocols • TCP/IP and network programming • Kernel/network optimisation • CPU architecture, caching and memory optimisation • Lock-free or wait-free programming • SIMD • FPGA or hardware acceleration • High-frequency or systematic trading • Financial markets The Environment You'll be working alongside highly capable engineers, quantitative researchers and traders in an environment where technical quality matters. The team values engineers who are curious, pragmatic and comfortable taking ownership of difficult technical problems. There is a strong focus on performance, engineering quality and continuous optimisation, with the opportunity to work on systems where improvements measured in microseconds can have a meaningful impact. If you're a strong C++ engineer who enjoys solving difficult systems problems and wants to work at the cutting edge of trading technology, we'd be keen to speak with you.
