Hiring company: Blue Lagoon Island Source: LinkedIn Bahamas Blue Lagoon Island / Dolphin Encounters Ltd. is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Legal Affairs Manager to provide senior legal oversight, strategic counsel, risk management, and legal representation across our organization and affiliated companies. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will serve as a key legal advisor to senior management, providing practical, business-focused guidance across corporate and commercial matters, employment and labour law, regulatory compliance, real estate, maritime operations, contracts, disputes, insurance, and risk management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide senior legal advice, interpretation and recommendations to management • Draft, review, negotiate and finalize contracts, agreements, policies and other legal instruments • Advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, licensing and corporate obligations • Provide guidance on employment, labour, immigration, work permits and HR-related legal matters • Advise on real estate, property, leasing and related matters • Provide legal counsel on maritime and marine operations, vessel matters and regulatory compliance • Oversee disputes, claims, investigations, litigation risks and settlement negotiations • Represent the company in legal and dispute-resolution proceedings where appropriate • Coordinate with external attorneys, regulators, government agencies, insurers, banks and other stakeholders QUALIFICATIONS • Law degree from a recognized institution • Admission to practice law in The Bahamas, or eligibility to be admitted • Minimum of five years' legal experience preferred • Experience in corporate/commercial law, employment matters, real estate, litigation and/or maritime-related matters • Experience in tourism, hospitality, maritime or other complex operational environments would be an asset. • Experience working with regulatory bodies in The Bahamas or the Caribbean would also be advantageous. • In-house, corporate counsel or commercial law firm experience is an asset • Knowledge of Bahamian corporate law, labour and employment laws, immigration requirements, real estate procedures, maritime regulations, insurance, contracts, and court or tribunal procedures • Strong legal drafting, negotiation, analytical and advisory skills • Sound professional judgment, discretion and commitment to confidentiality This is an opportunity for an accomplished legal professional to play an integral role in supporting the governance, operations and continued development of one of The Bahamas' leading tourism organizations.
