Hiring company: NIOTA LABS Source: LinkedIn Guyana NIOTA LABS 12-WEEK TECHNICAL INTERNSHIP / CAPSTONE PROJECT SHIPPING LOGISTICS PLATFORM Customer Mobile Application Duration: 12 weeks Status: Unpaid internship/capstone with hands-on technical mentoring Project Overview NIOTA Labs has developed a web-based shipping and logistics management platform designed to help shipping companies move from manual and fragmented processes to a centralized, automated system for managing shipments, customers, payments, tracking, and deliveries. The platform helps companies improve operational efficiency, reduce errors and delays, provide customers with greater visibility in their shipments, and ultimately deliver a more reliable and competitive shipping experience. The next phase is a customer-facing mobile application for iOS and Android while staff and management continue to use the web platform. What NIOTA Labs Has Already Built • Customer shipment-request workflow • Shipment tracking and status management • Customer and shipment records • Payment tracking and shipping service options • Customer, staff and management workflows • PostgreSQL database structure • Operational workflow from shipment request through delivery See a walk-through demo of what was already built https://youtu.be/8USwXknO7mU?si=lyFiZTvElI7_OFhC What the Internship Team Will Build • Build the iOS and Android customer application • Connect securely to the existing backend/database through APIs • Implement customer registration, authentication and authorization • Implement shipment requests, pickup requests and scheduling • Create shipment tracking and status-timeline functionality • Add push notifications for shipment and delivery updates • Integrate debit/credit card payments and MMG where technically available • Add shipment history, digital receipts/documents and customer-support functionality • Test, secure and prepare the mobile MVP for pilot deployment Basic Technical Foundation • Programming fundamentals • Python and/or JavaScript fundamentals • Basic SQL/database knowledge • Basic understanding of web applications • Git/GitHub fundamentals and ability to work with existing code Helpful Experience — Not Required • React/React Native or Flutter • PostgreSQL and REST APIs • Authentication and authorization • Push notifications and payment systems • Cloud deployment or business/logistics application experience You do not need to know every technology listed above. NIOTA Labs is looking for students with a solid technical foundation, curiosity, reliability, problem-solving ability and a willingness to learn. Technical guidance and mentoring will be provided while students work with an existing real-world system. 12-Week Goal Produce a functional mobile MVP connected to the existing NIOTA Labs platform and ready for pilot testing and the next stage of deployment.
