The Security Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Private Destination. This role focuses on Guests, Team Members, and Visitors’ safety and any type of emergency. This position assists the Safety & Security Manager to implement and run the Destination Security Plan to ensure a secure working environment. The Security Supervisor oversees the Security Guards and assists with the security and surveillance of Guests, Team Members, Visitors, equipment, and systems to ensure safety on the Destination. This position leads by example and requires exemplary organization, attention to detail, leadership skills, excellent Guest and Team Member engagement, training, and knowledge of the product and service standards. All duties and responsibilities are performed following Company’s Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, policies, and SOPs, public health, safety, security, and environmental guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establishes the visibility of security through patrolling indoor and outdoor areas.
• Reports any suspicious activity around the Destination. Interacts with Guests to ensure their security and compliance with reasonable standards of conduct. Responds promptly and effectively to calls for assistance.
• Evaluates situations quickly to determine the appropriate security response and takes action to address incidents.
• Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution skills but can utilize physical control and restraint techniques, when necessary, to control escalating or dangerous situations.
• Raises the awareness and importance of safety and security in each department’s daily activities.
• Resolves incidents, conduct interviews, write reports, assists to recognize evidence, controls the crowds.
• Participates in training and drills and performs other security-related duties to enhance the Guest experiences.
• Operates accommodation database, key management, key locking plan, CCTV maintenance, and reporting.
• Follows established departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ISPS regulations.
• Establishes effective communication with Ship Security in port.
• Follows local port regulations and protocols. Inspect the pier during operation and non-ship days.
• Screens personal items of Team Members, Contractors, Visitors, and Vendors to ensure safe arrival and departure.
• Participates in training and meetings. Adheres to a Company confidentiality agreement.
• Follows the Destinations grooming standards and ensures the Team follows the standards.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.
• Manages work schedules to meet the needs of the operation. Develops, implements, and monitors rotation sheets for the operation. Keeps record of hours worked and approves overtime.
• Maintains the continuous updating of clear and concise handover notes to eliminate any possible miscommunication that compromises the efficiency of set processes.
• Enforces security policies and procedures.
• Monitors CCTV and alarm systems 24/7 and act.
• Monitors and are responsible for main entrance operations.
• Responds immediately to fire alarms and reports to the emergency team.
• Determines appropriate actions during emergencies.
• Administers access control for Team Members, visitors, vendors, and contractors.
• Coordinates transportation (ground/boat) for Team Member sign on/off.
• Assists with crowd control during vessel operations or weather events.
• Inspect the main entrance during operations and non-ship days.
• Provides directions and assistance to guests and visitors.
• Maintains knowledge of safety equipment and the emergency plan.
• Maintains vigilance and responds to emergencies.
• Coordination with operational departments during emergencies and daily security activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Outdoor environment where high temperature, precipitation, and humid temperatures are experienced.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may require working outdoors in extremely humid and hot conditions for an extended period.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma, foreign equivalent, or equivalent vocational training is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Three (3) years of progressive experience in the army, maritime, aviation, police, or hotel security environment, with the ability to function in a multicultural corporate environment is required.
• Basic knowledge and experience supervising a Security Team onboard a ship or a land-based destination is preferred.
• Basic experience and ability to work inside the swimming pools and control escalating or dangerous situations is preferred.
• Training or experience The Constitution of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, particularly provisions relating to fundamental rights, freedoms, detention, search, and lawful treatment of persons. Relevant Bahamian laws and regulations applicable to security operations. The Penal Code of The Bahamas, including offenses relating to theft, assault, trespass, disorderly conduct, weapons, and public safety. The Dangerous Drugs Act, including identification of controlled substances, prohibited activities, evidence preservation, and reporting requirements.
• Principles of evidence collection, preservation, chain of custody, and incident documentation to support investigations and potential court proceedings. The legal powers and limitations of private security personnel, including citizen's arrest, use of force, search procedures, and cooperation with the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Relevant health, safety, security, and regulatory requirements applicable to the operation.
• Intermediate communication skills, conflict resolution abilities, incident command, including first responder, scene and evidence preservation, investigation, interview, and documentation are required.
• Basic knowledge and experience using enforcement skills, including appropriate detention and physical search procedures are required.
• Basic experience and knowledge in navigating within the Internet, Security systems, CCTV, MS Office, E1, Medallia, Amos, crunch time is required.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests, Team Members, contractors, and vendors.
• Excellent English reading and writing skills are required to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholders.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• All Destination Team Members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.
