Hiring company: UN Volunteers Caribbean Source: LinkedIn Jamaica National UNV assignment – Jamaica | Remote Help advance the green hydrogen transition in Jamaica UNV is seeking a Hydrogen Specialist to support UNEP’s regional initiative, Advancing a Regional Approach to the Green Hydrogen Economy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The assignment will contribute to strengthening Jamaica’s green hydrogen ecosystem by supporting national coordination, stakeholder engagement and the development of a strategic action plan for enabling regulations related to green hydrogen derivatives and synthetic fuels. What you will contribute • Build and maintain relationships with government institutions, private sector actors and civil society organizations. • Support the creation and coordination of the National Inter-Institutional Working Group on Green Hydrogen. • Plan, organize and facilitate at least three stakeholder meetings, including agendas, presentations and supporting documentation. • Provide technical advice and support to national authorities and project partners. • Collect and consolidate stakeholder inputs to support the development of the Strategic Action Plan. • Promote knowledge exchange and collaboration across public, private and civil society stakeholders. • Contribute to project monitoring, reporting and follow-up activities. Apply if you meet these requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Public Policy, Economics, Energy, Transport, Urban Planning or a closely related field. • At least 5 years of relevant experience in energy, transport, climate change, environmental policy and/or infrastructure projects or policies. • Experience in renewable energy, decarbonization, public-sector initiatives or energy/transport projects is desirable. • Knowledge of green hydrogen is desirable. • English: Fluent – required. • Applicants must be Jamaican nationals or foreign nationals with valid residency status in Jamaica. What the assignment offers A monthly Living Allowance of approximately JMD 260,561.91, plus applicable UN Volunteer entitlements and insurance coverage in accordance with the UNV Conditions of Service. Duration: 3 months, full-time and remote from Kingston, Jamaica. Application deadline: 21 September 2026.
