Hiring company: thehivecareers.co Source: Career Page About the Role The Director of Finance will provide senior financial leadership across the organization's Insurance and Investment businesses, overseeing financial management, reporting, planning, budgeting, controls, treasury, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial analysis. The role will work closely with the CFO, CEO, Board, Investment Committee, Actuarial, Risk, Treasury, Underwriting, Claims, and business leadership teams to ensure strong financial governance, sustainable profitability, effective capital management, and informed strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Oversee P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and working-capital management. Establish and monitor financial controls, policies, and accounting procedures. Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to senior management. Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for insurance and investment activities. Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process. Develop rolling forecasts and multi-year financial plans. Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast. Conduct variance, profitability, and cost analysis. Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decisions. Insurance Finance Monitor insurance premium revenue, claims, commissions, acquisition costs, and operating expenses. Analyze underwriting profitability and key insurance performance indicators. Work with Actuarial and Risk teams on reserves, capital requirements, assumptions, and financial projections. Support product, pricing, portfolio, and distribution profitability analysis. Monitor insurance-related regulatory and financial requirements. Investment Finance Oversee financial analysis of investment portfolios and investment activities. Monitor investment income, returns, AUM, asset allocation, and investment expenses. Analyze investment performance against budgets and relevant benchmarks. Support investment decisions through financial modelling and scenario analysis. Work with Investment and Treasury teams on liquidity, capital allocation, and portfolio strategy. Treasury & Capital Management Oversee cash-flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and treasury activities. Monitor capital requirements and optimize the use of financial resources. Support capital planning and strategic funding decisions. Assess liquidity and financial risks associated with insurance and investment activities. Governance, Risk & Compliance Maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks. Coordinate with internal and external auditors. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, insurance regulations, and financial reporting obligations. Work closely with Risk and Compliance teams to identify and manage financial risks. Support Board and committee reporting and governance requirements. Strategic Finance Provide financial input into corporate strategy, business expansion, acquisitions, investments, and major initiatives. Evaluate business cases and investment proposals. Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial performance. Provide senior management with forward-looking financial and commercial insights. Leadership Lead and develop the Finance team, including Financial Reporting, FP&A, Treasury, and related functions. Establish clear financial performance objectives and accountability. Partner with senior leaders across Insurance, Investments, Operations, Risk, Actuarial, and Commercial functions. Present financial results, forecasts, risks, and recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board. Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline. Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CFA, or equivalent preferred. MBA or advanced qualification in Finance/Business is an advantage. 12–15+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably within Insurance, Investments, Banking, Asset Management, or broader Financial Services. Significant experience in a senior Finance/Corporate Finance/FP&A leadership position. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and strategic finance. Experience working with senior executives, Board members, auditors, regulators, and investment/actuarial stakeholders.
