Role Overview
In this dynamic role, you will be the face of our store—connecting with customers & driving sales, providing in depth product information, keeping our space visually inspiring, and participating in our retail operations efficiently.
Essential Functions
• Greeting customers warmly, uncover their needs through open-ended questions, and proactively drive sales to achieve daily and monthly store targets.
• Recommend complementary decor, rugs, and accent pieces to enhance customer purchases and increase average transaction value.
• Confidently discuss materials, textures, color schemes, and product dimensions to guide customers with knowledgeable recommendations.
• Clearly explain the quality, durability, craftsmanship, and functionality of products to build buying confidence.
• Rearrange furniture, restock items, and style displays to keep the showroom floor fresh, organized, and visually appealing.
• Safely use step ladders to hang artwork, align wall decor, and retrieve merchandise from top shelves.
• Conduct daily dusting, glass cleaning, cushion straightening, and general housekeeping to maintain an impeccable store presentation.
• Verify that all merchandise and promotional displays feature clear, accurate price tags and scannable barcodes.
• Efficiently process sales, returns, and exchanges while accurately managing cash, card transactions, discounts, and store credits.
• Carefully wrap and package delicate items to protect them from damage during transit.
• Promptly and professionally handle customer inquiries across WhatsApp, email, social media, and phone.
• Keep clients informed on special orders, backorders, delivery schedules, and incoming container shipments.
• Strictly adhere to daily opening/closing checklists, cash balancing, inventory counts, and security protocols.
• Follow all safety guidelines, ladder safety rules, and company dress code standards.
• Support colleagues during peak checkout hours and regularly share customer insights, trend demand, and stock feedback with the Store Manager.
Essential Qualifications
• Secondary School completion with at least five (5) CXC / CSEC passes (including Mathematics and English).
• 1–2 years of experience in retail sales, customer service, visual merchandising, or hospitality preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work well with team members.
• Outgoing, articulate, and confident talking face-to-face or on the phone to customers.
• Able to stand, walk, and be active on the showroom floor throughout the day.
• Comfortable using step ladders safely.
• Able to lift, carry, and maneuver furniture and boxes up to 50–75 lbs using proper equipment.
• Confident with mental math and quick calculations (calculating percentages, discounts, subtotals).
• Comfortable learning POS systems, using email, WhatsApp Business, and checking digital inventory.
• Possession of a valid Police Certificate of Character.
• Punctual, dependable, and flexible to work weekends, evenings, public holidays, and the busy Christmas season (December).
