About the Role: Why this role matters: CRNCY is expanding its position in Barbados. We're looking for someone to lead the country as local VP—owning the P&L, relationships with regulators and employers, and commercial execution.
Responsibilities:
• Own the full country P&L.
• Define and drive commercial and product strategy, working directly with Credit and Marketing.
• Build and manage relationships with regulators and government bodies in Barbados.
• Lead employer relations and develop payroll-deduction channel partnerships.
• Build and lead a multi-layered local team, from hiring through performance management.
• Lead operational expansion where needed — site selection, lease negotiation, and build-out.
• Negotiate and establish banking relationships and credit facilities for the country operation.
• Track and report on country performance, adjusting strategy as market conditions evolve.
What success looks like in 12 months:
• Meaningful growth in active customer base, driven by localized marketing and operational execution.
• Established, functioning relationships with regulators and government bodies.
• A local team built out and performing.
• Active employer-relations channels supporting payroll-deduction products.
• Country P&L trending in the right direction, with visible ownership of the numbers.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in financial services, fintech, lending, or retail.
• 5+ years in a C-level (or equivalent) role with direct P&L ownership.
• Demonstrated experience building or scaling an operation from the ground up (retail, branch network, or similar).
• Proven ability to negotiate and establish banking relationships or credit facilities.
• Established relationships with regulators and government bodies, or clear evidence of having built them from scratch in another market.
• Track record of growing an active customer base through localized marketing and operational improvement.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
