Position Overview
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and production timelines.
Reporting to the Sous Chef, this role supports daily kitchen operations by maintaining assigned cooking stations, preparing food with consistency and attention to detail, and working collaboratively with the culinary team to deliver an exceptional dining experience. The Line Cook plays a key role in ensuring food quality, kitchen organization, and operational efficiency throughout every service.

Culinary Excellence Stewardship
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food that consistently meets Harvest in the Gardens' culinary standards.
Responsibilities include:
• Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes.
• Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared accurately and within service timelines.
• Monitor food temperatures and proper cooking techniques.
• Assist with daily food production and station preparation.
Team Member Stewardship
• Work collaboratively with the culinary team during food preparation and service.
• Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef regarding production needs.
• Support fellow team members during high-volume service periods.
• Participate in daily kitchen briefings.
• Contribute to a respectful, organized, and team-oriented kitchen culture.
Operational Stewardship
• Prepare and organize assigned workstations before service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout each shift.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Properly label, store, and rotate food products.
• Complete opening, service, and closing responsibilities.
• Report equipment or maintenance concerns promptly.
Financial Stewardship
• Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.
• Help reduce food waste through careful preparation and storage.
• Handle kitchen equipment and supplies responsibly.
• Support inventory accuracy through proper product usage.
• Promote operational efficiency through organized station management.
Cross-Functional Stewardship
• Coordinate with Prep Cooks to maintain product availability.
• Support Sous Chef during daily production and service.
• Communicate effectively with front-of-house leadership regarding food timing.
• Assist with special events and catering operations as assigned.
• Foster collaboration throughout the culinary and hospitality teams.

Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food preparation environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Preferred
• Culinary education or vocational training.
• Previous experience in a full-service restaurant, resort, or hospitality environment.
• Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience preparing multiple menu items during high-volume service.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Working Conditions
This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
The role requires extended periods of standing while working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen. Team members should be comfortable working around hot surfaces, sharp equipment, and varying kitchen temperatures.
