Hiring company: Automotive Art Source: LinkedIn Barbados BMW High Voltage Certified Technician - Barbados Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced and certified BMW High Voltage (HV) Technician to join our service team in Barbados. As BMW expands its electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) lineup, you will serve as an expert responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage battery systems, electric drive units, and advanced power electronics. You will work with cutting-edge automotive technology in a safe, BMW-approved facility, upholding BMW’s high standards of quality and customer safety. Key Responsibilities: Diagnostic & Repair • Perform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and complex repairs on BMW High-Voltage systems (battery packs, electric motor units, high-voltage wiring, and power electronics). • Perform high-voltage system de-energization, testing, safety lock-out procedures, and re-energization in accordance with BMW safety guidelines. • Utilize BMW ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application) diagnostic software and specialized HV measuring tools to isolate software and hardware faults. • Conduct routine service, software updates, and mechanical repairs across both electrified and traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) BMW vehicles. Safety & Compliance • Maintain strict adherence to high-voltage safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and dealership safety standards. • Inspect, maintain, and certify high-voltage insulated tools, gloves, and safety barriers before work. • Assist in training and mentoring apprentice technicians on safe practices around high-voltage systems. Documentation & Communication • Clearly document diagnostic findings, work performed, and technical recommendations on repair orders. • Communicate effectively with Service Advisors to explain complex repairs to customers when needed. • Participate in ongoing BMW technical training to maintain and elevate certifications as BMW electric vehicle technology evolves. Qualifications & Certifications: Required • BMW Certification: Official BMW High Voltage Expert (HVE) certification. • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years as an automotive technician, with at least 1–2 years of dedicated high-voltage/EV repair experience; BMW dealership experience required. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical schematic reading, CAN bus diagnosis, and advanced multimeter/oscilloscope troubleshooting. • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Preferred • BMW Master Technician status. • BMW Gen 6 training would be an asset.
