Position Overview The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering exceptional hospitality to guests dining at the bar and throughout the restaurant. Reporting to the Full Service Restaurant Team Lead, this role ensures beverages are prepared accurately, responsibly, and efficiently while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming bar environment. The Bartender works closely with Restaurant Servers, Food Runners, Hosts, and the Culinary Team to deliver a seamless dining experience. Responsibilities include: • Welcome guests warmly and provide exceptional service. • Prepare and serve beverages according to established recipes and quality standards. • Recommend cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. • Assist guests with beverage selections and pairings. • Monitor guest satisfaction and respond promptly to requests. • Promote responsible alcohol service and verify identification when required. • Build positive guest relationships through professional and attentive service. Team Member Stewardship • Work collaboratively with Restaurant Servers to ensure timely beverage service. • Communicate effectively with the Culinary Team and restaurant leadership. • Support fellow team members during busy service periods. • Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and menu briefings. • Foster teamwork, professionalism, and a guest-first culture. Operational Stewardship • Prepare and stock the bar before each shift. • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar area. • Monitor beverage inventory and notify leadership of replenishment needs. • Ensure compliance with responsible beverage service, food safety, and sanitation standards. • Complete opening, side work, and closing duties accurately. • Properly clean and maintain bar equipment and glassware. Financial Stewardship • Promote featured beverages and premium offerings through suggestive selling. • Prepare beverages accurately to minimize waste. • Follow cash-handling and POS procedures. • Protect inventory through proper portion control and accountability. • Support profitability through efficient beverage operations. Cross-Functional Stewardship • Coordinate with Restaurant Servers to maintain efficient service. • Communicate beverage availability with restaurant leadership. • Support special events and promotional activities. • Collaborate with Venue Services to maintain a clean and welcoming environment. • Foster strong teamwork across all restaurant operations. Team Member Expectations Bartenders are expected to demonstrate exceptional hospitality, professionalism, product knowledge, and sound judgment in every guest interaction. Team members should communicate effectively, work efficiently under pressure, maintain high service standards, and consistently represent the Harvest in the Gardens culture through outstanding beverage service and teamwork. Preferred • Previous experience in a full-service restaurant or upscale bar. • Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one. • Responsible Beverage Service certification or willingness to obtain one. • Experience using POS systems. • Knowledge of classic cocktails, wines, beers, and beverage pairings. Working Conditions This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. The role requires extended periods of standing and walking while working in a fast-paced, guest-facing hospitality environment.
