ROLE OVERVIEW This internship is a genuine development opportunity, working directly with the Director on live research. The Analyst is not a writer who uses AI, the Analyst is a verifier, structurer and commercial interpreter of AI-assisted output, making research faster to produce and harder to fault. A STRUCTURED LEARNING POST • Structured induction and written learning plan agreed in week one. • Formal training in AI tooling, prompt design, verification methodology and AI security. • Coaching in commercial awareness and professional research standards. • Exposure to member, sponsor and client meetings where appropriate. • Structured reviews at 30, 60 and 90 days, with written feedback • Written reference and record of learning outcomes on completion. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE • Degree (or final-year study) in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a comparably analytical discipline. • Minimum Upper Second Class/GPA 3.3 or equivalent. • Candidates from other quantitative or rigorous analytical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. • Strong analytical reasoning and exceptional attention to detail • Clear written and confident verbal communication • Numerate and comfortable building and interrogating a simple financial model • Competent with standard office software; able to learn new systems quickly • Prior practical use generative AI tools is an asset • Curiosity about digital payments, financial technology, trusts or financial regulation is an advantage. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. RESEARCH & ANALYSIS • Conduct desk research across the Institute’s standing research streams, working from primary sources; statute, regulation, regulator guidance, supervisory letters, judgments, filed accounts and named-author publications. •Build and maintain a source library for each research stream, keeping it current as regulation changes. • Produce structured analytical outputs: issue trees, comparison tables, regulatory timelines, source matrices and quantified estimates with stated assumptions. • Monitor regulatory developments across the relevant agencies and circulate a weekly digest to the Director. 2. AI-ASSISTED DRAFTING, REVIEW & FACT-CHECKING • Draft reports, memoranda and briefings using approved AI tools, working from a scoping note agreed with the Director. • Verify every factual assertion against a primary source before the work is submitted. This is the single most important accountability in the role. •Check every citation individually: that the source exists, says what the draft claims, is current and has not been amended, superseded or withdrawn. • Identify and remove fabricated authorities, invented case names, false statistics, misattributed quotations and incorrect provision references. • Maintain a verification log recording, for each material claim, the source consulted, date consulted and confidence level. • Escalate rather than guess where a point is uncertain, contested between regulators or requires professional judgement. 3. WRITTEN & VISUAL OUTPUT • Produce memoranda, executive summaries, presentations and comprehensive research reports to the Institute’s house standard: conclusion first, fully sourced, assumptions and limitations stated. • Adapt long-form research into short-form content without losing accuracy in compression. 4. CONTENT, WEBSITE & COMMUNICATIONS • Manage the content production pipeline: drafting, editing, scheduling and publication. • Upload and format content to the Institute’s website and maintain tagging, navigation and archive integrity. • Maintain the editorial calendar and report on engagement and reach. 5. SUPPORT TO THE DIRECTOR & TEAM • Maintain the Director’s task list — capture, prioritise, chase and close out. • Convert meetings and calls into actions with owners and dates; produce a Monday priority list and a Friday close-out summary. • Prepare briefing packs ahead of meetings with members, sponsors and clients. 6. ADMINISTRATION & STAKEHOLDER LIAISON • Provide general administrative support to the fiduciary risk research programme. • Member liaison: onboarding, queries, distribution of research and renewal tracking. • Sponsor development support: research prospective sponsors, prepare approach materials and track the pipeline. • Arrange travel and events for the Director and Institute events. • Maintain records and files to a standard that would withstand audit. Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the post. This is a small team; willingness to do what the week requires is essential. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES • Intellectually honest – states uncertainty rather than concealing it. • Accountable for the accuracy of all work, including AI-assisted work. • Reliable, punctual and professionally presented. • A committed team player, willing to take initiative in a small team. • Open to receiving and acting on direct feedback. AI USE & ACCOUNTABILITY The Institute uses AI tooling openly and expects the Analyst to use it well. These conditions form part of induction and the written statement of particulars. • THE AUTHOR IS ACCOUNTABLE, NOT THE TOOL. Submitting AI-assisted work represents that the Analyst has personally verified it. “The AI said so” is not an explanation and will not be accepted. • VERIFICATION BEFORE SUBMISSION. No deliverable is submitted without a citation check, currency check, jurisdiction check, arithmetic check, internal consistency check and confidence marking on each material conclusion. • APPROVED TOOLS ONLY. No client-confidential, privileged or personal data may be entered into any tool outside the approved list. • TRANSPARENCY. The Analyst discloses where and how AI was used in preparing any deliverable. • SKILL DEVELOPMENT. The Analyst is expected to become the Institute’s most capable operator of these tools — in prompt design, grounding, decomposition and structured output — and to red-team the Institute’s own AI workflows. MEASURES OF SUCCESS Performance will be reviewed at 30, 60 and 90 days against the following: • No unverified factual claim reaching a member, sponsor or publication. • A measurable reduction in the Director’s review time per deliverable against the first-month baseline. • A current, well-organised source library across the research streams. • The Director’s task list accurate and current at all times, with no missed deadlines. • A published Institute output on which the Analyst was the primary drafter. • Demonstrated ability to state the commercial implication of research without prompting. • Evidence of initiative — including at least one occasion of raising a well-reasoned disagreement. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY & ACCOMMODATIONS Applications are considered on merit without regard to any protected characteristic. Reasonable accommodations are available on request at every stage of recruitment. HOW TO APPLY • CV • Cover letter, explaining why your analytical training suits this role • Send all documents to the email address below admin@mithrilinternational.com
