Hiring company: Damco Solutions Source: LinkedIn Bahamas JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: JUNIOR SQL DB TECHNICIAN Department: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Reports to: VP Operations & IT Manager Multiple Locations in Caribbean : Bahamas - Nassau, Freeport, Exuma, Abaco. George Town Cayman Island, Turks & Caicos Islands Job Summary: Assist in the management and maintenance of a company's SQL (Structured Query Language) databases. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Database Maintenance: Assist in the routine maintenance and administration of SQL databases, including backups, updates, and security configurations. 2. SQL Querying: Will execute standard SQL queries to extract, analyze, and manipulate data stored in databases. 3. Troubleshooting: Help identify and resolve database-related issues and errors, such as performance problems or data inconsistencies. 4. Data Import/Export: Import and export data to/from SQL databases using various tools and methods. 5. Documentation: Maintain documentation of database structures, configurations, and procedures. 6. Security: Assist in implementing and maintaining database security measures, including user access controls. 7. Performance Optimization: Participate in efforts to optimize database performance, such as indexing and query optimization. 8. Collaboration: Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to ensure the smooth operation of database systems. 9. Reporting: Create and generate reports based on database queries to support business needs. 10. Monitoring: Monitor database health and performance using monitoring tools and alerts 11. Sundry duties Required Work Experience A minimum of (2) Two - Five (5) years’ experience required in related field. Qualifications An Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or relevant work experience). Strong knowledge of SQL and database management concepts. Familiarity with programming languages for scripting and automation. Familiarity with database management systems. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
