Hiring company: Strategenius on behalf of King's College School Source: Careers.nacacnet.org King’s College School in Nassau, Bahamas is seeking an engaging and collaborative relationship-builder to join them as a University & Careers Counselor. As a University & Careers Counselor, you’ll be responsible for supporting students in making informed decisions about their academic, university/college, and career pathways. The role provides personalized up-to-date guidance and support to students on higher education options, career planning, and university/college applications, helping students to maximize their potential and achieve successful post-study outcomes. The Counselor will work closely with students and their families to understand their individual strengths, interests, and goals, and help them identify suitable university/college options to support their chosen pathways. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conducting one-on-one counselling sessions with students to assess their academic, extracurricular, and personal backgrounds, and develop personalized college / university admission plans. • Assisting students in researching colleges and universities (primarily US, UK and Europe as locations), including evaluating academic programs, campus culture, and financial aid opportunities. • Providing guidance on standardized testing requirements, preparation strategies, and registration procedures for exams such as the SAT and ACT. • Guide students through application processes (e.g. UCAS or equivalent), including personal statements, course selection, admissions tests, and interviews. • Organizing and facilitating college / university visits, information sessions, and workshops to educate students and families about the college admissions process. • Collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure a supportive and cohesive approach to college counselling. • Keeping abreast of trends and developments in college / university admissions, including changes to application requirements, admission policies, and financial aid programs. • Attending relevant conferences, such as ACAC, to remain professionally well networked. • Maintaining accurate records of student interactions and application deadlines using our counselling software system. • Providing support and guidance to students who may require additional assistance, such as those from underrepresented backgrounds or with special needs. • Develop resources and materials to proactively support outstanding careers learning and university preparation. For more information and to learn how to apply, please visit: https://bit.ly/KCS_UnivCounselor_AppForm THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: • Bachelor's degree in counselling, education, psychology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). • Previous experience working in university / college admissions, counselling, or a related field is highly desirable. • Strong knowledge of admissions processes, including standardised testing, application requirements, and financial aid options. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students and families from diverse backgrounds. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with strong organisational and time management skills. • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting equity and access in the college admissions process. • Familiarity with counselling software systems and other technology tools used in university/college counselling. • Certification or licensure in counselling or related field is a plus.
